Lucky teen wins big

STOKE-ON-TRENT TEEN CLAIMS £240 000 ON £2 SCRATCH CARD

A lucky teen wins big! From Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent, a teenager won a staggering £240,000 after purchasing a £2 scratch-card.

THE LUCKY SCRATCH CARD

For the next year, Kyle Burke will receive a monthly payout of £20 000 from the purchase of a winning card. This astonishing in was an impulsive buy when he nipped into his local store.

“I popped to the local shop for a few bits and bobs and decided to have a go on a scratchcard. The thought of winning every month more than I earn in a year sounded too good an opportunity to miss.”

As soon as the young retail assistant arrived home, scratched the card and to his surprise, had won!

“I dashed back to the shop to ask them to check it. I was shaking and so nervous. The lady shop assistant told me to call the National Lottery so I did.”

“During the phone call they asked me for the shop details, so I ran around again and asked the same lady behind the counter for all that information while still on the phone to the National Lottery. I finally got home again and after all that toing and froing, just sat down in disbelief.”

CELEBRATIONS

Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 lockdown, the teen and his family will have to celebrate at a later date. Burke’s father, Simon, is currently away from home working for the National Health Service as a porter at the Royal Stoke University Hospital. So for now, they will all have to wait until the situation improves and his father returns home.

“I know how tough it is for everybody at the moment, especially with my dad working for the NHS,” said the 18-year-old.

If you are wondering about the traditional giant cheque that winners are presented with, it will be presented to the winner once it is safe to do so.

“The guys at The National Lottery have sent me a digital big cheque and have promised to send me the usual big one plus a bottle of champagne as soon as it is safe to.

“I will keep self-isolating, washing my hands and not venturing out until everything changes back to normal,” Burke says

FUTURE PLANS

While it may be some time yet before this lucky teen, can spend his winnings, Kyle can ponder what exactly he would like to spend it on.

“I’ve currently got a provisional driving licence so when I pass my test, I will get a car. All I can do at the moment is look at my banking app to see what my increasing balance is, which is just mad.”

Many young lottery winners in the past have made very poor decisions regarding their winnings. Thankfully this young man has chosen the sensible approach.
